NAM’s Timmons to Visit European Business and Political Leaders to Strengthen Strategic Economic Alliances Abroad

Geneva, Switzerland – National Association of Manufacturers President and CEO Jay Timmons travels to Europe alongside NAM Vice President of International Economic Affairs Ken Monahan on the second phase of the NAM 2023 Competing to Win Tour. Timmons and Monahan will be joined by various European business groups and government and business leaders during the two-week trip to six countries.

Timmons will address issues that are central to the competitiveness of manufacturers in America and will emphasize the importance of advancing the values of free enterprise, competitiveness, individual liberty and equal opportunity. Manufacturers play a central role in tackling the biggest challenges facing the world—protecting the planet, connecting our communities, delivering humanitarian relief, improving the quality of life and building an economy that lifts people from poverty and creates opportunity for all. Timmons will focus on the importance of strengthening transatlantic alliances, improving the global regulatory climate, expanding trade opportunities and pushing back against attempts to weaken manufacturers’ intellectual property, such as the proposed expansion of the World Trade Organization TRIPS waiver on COVID-19 products.

“With growing economic uncertainty and with democracy itself under attack, now is the time to strengthen the transatlantic relationships that play a pivotal role in the growth of economies across Europe and in the United States. We must foster stronger ties among our partners and global institutions,” said Timmons. “It’s why the NAM is undertaking this tour, to ensure that manufacturers in America can continue leading the way and to demonstrate that we are united with our allies to ensure freedom and democracy prevail in the 21st century and beyond.”
