Manufacturers Push Infrastructure, Permitting Reform in New Videos

As Congress looks to extend key surface transportation programs until December—allowing time for negotiators to pursue a deal—the NAM is continuing its all-out push for a robust highway bill that modernizes infrastructure and streamlines the permitting process.
The manufacturers: Through the NAM’s “Building to Win” campaign, manufacturing leaders are making the case for sustained investment in American infrastructure, since every step of the manufacturing process depends on roads and bridges, ports and waterways, airports and runways, water systems and energy infrastructure. Most recently, leaders from Brunswick, Caterpillar Inc., CRH and Fluor lent their voices to the campaign in a new series of videos:
- Brunswick Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Strategy Officer Ryan Gwillim emphasized how the marine manufacturer depends on water infrastructure to design “the world’s best outboard engines” and expand the company.
- Caterpillar Inc. Construction Industries Group President Rod Shurman described how infrastructure investment supports growth, strengthens and enriches communities and helps manufacturers deliver their goods much more efficiently.
- CRH Executive Vice President of Government Relations Ryan Lindsey highlighted how infrastructure funding and permitting reform will enable CRH to compete and grow while helping to build a stronger America.
- Fluor Senior Director of Government Relations Nathan Robinson pointed out that investing in infrastructure is investing in America’s future, and also called for transportation funding and permitting reform. He praised the partnership between the federal government, state departments of transportation and the private sector for getting major projects done.
