Accumold Breaks New Ground, Adds Jobs Thanks to Landmark Tax Law

Accumold has become an outstanding example of what manufacturers can achieve thanks to pro-growth tax policy.
A groundbreaking: Earlier this month, the precision micro injection molding company broke ground on a $33.25 million expansion of its Ankeny, Iowa, campus (Plastics Today). The new 53,000-square-foot building will nearly double production capacity and create 150 new jobs.
- The new facility will feature new equipment and technology as well as “expanded quality and tooling capabilities,” according to the company.
- Accumold has already added 100 jobs this year, bringing its workforce to 425 employees.
A success story: Accumold’s growth demonstrates the benefits of H.R. 1, the landmark 2025 tax law that made many pro-growth provisions permanent.
- As the NAM reported in June, the company has benefited greatly from the law’s restoration of immediate R&D expensing and full expensing of capital equipment purchases.
- Those provisions have helped Accumold reinvest its savings in expansion and hiring.
Accumold says: “Tax reform is helping turn investments into opportunities for people,” Accumold President and CEO Roger Hargens said.
- “The ability to immediately deduct investments in a new manufacturing facility and new equipment gives us greater confidence to grow here in Ankeny, equip our people with the technology they need to succeed and create opportunities for the next generation of our workforce.”
The last word: “Accumold’s story in Iowa, including an expansion of their workforce by more than 50%, is a case study in what we are seeing in every state—manufacturers investing in their facilities, purchasing new equipment, innovating new products and hiring the workforce they need to support their growth,” said NAM Senior Director of Tax Policy Connor Rabb.
- “Across the country, there are many more stories of manufacturing success and investment like Accumold’s made possible by the tax code delivered in H.R. 1.”
