EPA Delivers for Manufacturers by Scrapping Unachievable Power Plant Rule
Washington, D.C. – Following the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to rescind Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Fossil Fuel–Fired Electric Generating Units, otherwise known as the Clean Power Plan 2.0, National Association of Manufacturers President and CEO Jay Timmons released the following statement:
“The power plant rules finalized by the previous administration set unachievable timelines for implementation and threatened the nation’s grid reliability. Manufacturers thank EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin for listening to the concerns of our industry and taking action to enhance manufacturers’ access to America’s abundant energy resources.
“The administration and Congress can build on today’s announcement by enacting comprehensive permitting reform that will accelerate the buildout of new and modernized plants of all types. At a time of rapidly growing energy demand, manufacturers need access to reliable and affordable power to invest, grow and compete. Manufacturers remain committed to advancing technology that will lower carbon emissions while powering the future of our economy, and we look forward to working with Administrator Zeldin to continue strengthening manufacturing in America.”
