Anduril, Palantir Partner on AI for Defense Training


Defense tech firm Anduril and data analytics company Palantir Technologies are teaming up “to use defense data for artificial intelligence training” (Reuters, subscription).

What’s going on: “The partnership will leverage Palantir’s AI platform to structure, label and prepare defense data for training to deploy those models onto national security systems, while Anduril’s systems will aid in the retention and distribution of government defense data.”

Why it’s important: Businesses in all industries are increasingly looking to AI to automate work, but AI’s “application in defense is still nascent, as data needed to train models in the sector is sometimes sensitive.”

In related news: Anduril announced a new software development kit yesterday that allows partners to build decentralized applications on its Lattice infrastructure, which provides “warfighters at the [tactical] edge” of military operations with “access to critical information even in degraded or low-bandwidth environments,” according to the company
