NAM’s Timmons to Deliver 2020 State of Manufacturing Address at Iowa Manufacturer
Washington, D.C. – Marking the 125th anniversary—to the day—of the National Association of Manufacturers’ founding, President and CEO Jay Timmons will travel to Pella, Iowa, to deliver his “State of Manufacturing Address” at Vermeer Corporation, an industrial and agricultural equipment manufacturer, on Wednesday, Jan. 22. In his remarks, Timmons will highlight the diversity of modern manufacturing job opportunities and how the industry is working to fill more than 4.6 million jobs over the next decade and address the workforce crisis through the NAM’s unprecedented Creators Wanted campaign. This event also serves as the launch for “Competing to Win,” the NAM’s 2020 policy agenda for candidates and elected officials.
Timmons will be joined by Vermeer Corporation employees and business and community leaders to discuss the rewarding and diverse opportunities in manufacturing as well as the state of the industry and the issues that matter this election season.
“This is a pivotal year for manufacturers, as we celebrate our history and build our future,” said Timmons. “Manufacturers consistently say their top concern is educating Americans on the opportunities in our industry and finding workers for the half-million unfilled jobs open today and the 4.6 million that will be open over the coming decade. As with the challenges we’ve faced throughout history, manufacturers are ready to be the solution.”
