NAM: Artemis II Is a Feat of Manufacturing

The first crewed mission to the moon in 53 years successfully launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida this week, a testament to the power of manufacturing in the United States, the NAM said.
What’s going on: NASA’s Artemis II is a “manufacturing marvel,” NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons said Wednesday.
- It was “built by companies of every size, in communities across America [and] … reflects the strength of an industry that drives innovation, supports millions of jobs and powers our economy,” he said.
- Artemis II, with four astronauts aboard, “will hurtle several thousand miles beyond the moon, hang a U-turn and then come straight back” (Associated Press ).
A historic emblem of American success: “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, this mission represents who we are and what we can achieve,” Timmons went on.
- “Across this country, people will look up at the night sky and see what manufacturers in the United States can do.”
