Manufacturers to Next Administration: Let’s Strengthen the Nation Together
As Americans head to the polls today, the NAM and more than 600 manufacturing and business leaders released a message addressed to the president-elect, emphasizing that a strong manufacturing sector is critical to U.S. security and prosperity and pledging to help unite the country.
The NAM-led letter represents a pledge to working through differences to advocate for an “exceptional America” and to partner with the next administration—regardless of whom the American people send to the White House.
What’s going on: The NAM, along with other manufacturing industry leaders, underscored their commitment to working with the next U.S. administration on creating an environment where businesses and individuals can flourish—especially now, as the U.S. nears an important milestone.
- The 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence “reminds us of the moments when our country came together to define its future—built on the foundation of free enterprise, competitiveness, individual liberty and equal opportunity,” they said.
- “[O]ur future is strongest when we are united. As business leaders, we have a unique responsibility to help bridge divides and advance our shared purpose.”
Why it’s important: The group also stressed that manufacturers are willing to work with the next president and Congress to do what is best for America’s nearly 13 million manufacturing workers and their communities, “who rely on our success.”
- “[W]e are committed to working together to strengthen trust and collaboration—within our sectors and across the nation,” they continued. “We must restore confidence in the future and in the economic systems that have long driven opportunity and innovation, so that American families and businesses can thrive in a united and forward-looking nation.”
