Fluor Corporation’s David Seaton Elected as NAM Board Chair
Michael Lamach of Ingersoll Rand to Serve as Vice Chair
Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Board of Directors kicked off its new two-year term on January 1. The new NAM leaders are poised to be influential voices with the new Congress, which has already turned to the NAM seeking policy advice and counsel.
In the coming months, NAM leaders will work to build on the momentum in manufacturing over the past two years and advance manufacturing priorities in Congress and the administration. David Seaton, chairman and CEO of Fluor Corporation, will serve as chair of the NAM Board of Directors, and Michael Lamach, chairman and CEO of Ingersoll Rand, will serve as vice chair.
Chuck Wetherington, president of BTE Technologies, Inc., will serve as chair of the NAM’s Small and Medium Manufacturers Group, and Vicki Holt, president and CEO of Protolabs, Inc., will serve as vice chair.
Manufacturing in the United States is well-positioned around next-generation solutions that will improve the lives of today’s workers and their families. The continued growth of manufacturing will spur new job training and workforce opportunities, as well as strengthen our communities as the backbone of a revitalized economy, said Seaton. I’m excited to assume this leadership role to carry forward and advance this legacy and strengthen the NAM’s positive impact on our country.
Manufacturing has experienced strong growth over the past two years, thanks in large part to game-changing tax and regulatory reform. The new NAM Board of Directors is primed as manufacturers’ voice to help secure additional reforms to spur job creation, increase economic competitiveness and build a 21st-century manufacturing workforce.
Small and medium-sized manufacturers have been energized and empowered over the past two years, and I look forward to helping the NAM leverage its unmatched expertise to deliver more wins over the next two years to build on this momentum, said Wetherington.
Thanks to the NAM, small and medium-sized manufacturers have outsized influence in our nation’s capital.
The new year brings new leaders to our nation’s capital and to the NAM Board of Directors, and with a post-partisan agenda and a powerhouse association that is respected across the political spectrum, manufacturers are well-positioned to continue securing historic progress, said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. Across America, manufacturers are investing, hiring and raising wages and benefits, empowered by the tools we’ve been given in recent years. To continue creating opportunities for America’s manufacturing workers, we’ll work with Congress and the administration to move the country forward on infrastructure, export expansion, immigration, workforce development and much more. With our board leaders—respected across business and government—lending their voices, their platforms and their expertise to our cause, there is no challenge that can stand in manufacturers’ way.
