Anduril Makes First Acquisition for Its Space Business
Defense technology company Anduril has signed an agreement to acquire space surveillance firm ExoAnalytic Solutions, it said on Wednesday (CNBC).
What’s going on: “Through the acquisition, Anduril plans to mobilize ExoAnalytic’s sweeping network of telescopes and missile defense tracking to gather data that improves its ground and satellite capabilities.”
- It’s part of President Trump’s push to create the Golden Dome, a $175 billion defense system intended to protect the U.S. from missile threats.
- The deal is still subject to regulatory approval.
Onward and upward: Anduril, founded in 2017, is expanding its space and satellite capabilities.
- The deal with ExoAnalytic—owner and operator of more than 400 telescope systems globally—is the first for Anduril’s space business.
- Anduril is also helping the U.S. Army construct a $22 billion augmented reality headset system.
Related recent moves: In February, Anduril announced that, with fellow defense tech firm Davidson Technologies and quantum computing company D-Wave, it had begun work on quantum-classical hybrid solutions for U.S. air and missile defense.
About ExoAnalytic: With the acquisition, Anduril will be able to “integrate ExoAnalytic’s global sensor network and data analytics with Anduril’s expertise in autonomy and command and control” ( Reuters, subscription).
